Day 1

1.DAY

We set off early in the morning from the Alanya region, heading towards the junction of the Manavgat–Akseki road, where we will meet our guests from the Antalya region. After joining our guests from the Antalya region, we set off towards the Cappadocia region. We stop for breakfast at the Tınaztepe rest area. Cappadocia is a region formed by the erosion of soft layers of lava and ash, erupted 60 million years ago by Mount Erciyes, Mount Hasan and Mount Göllüdağ, over millions of years by rain and wind. The Cappadocia region has experienced periods throughout history named after various states, societies and significant figures. The history of the Cappadocia Region dates back to the Assyrian trading colonies and the Hittites, who lived around 3000 BC. It is possible to examine the Cappadocia Region in three main periods. The first period comprises the Palaeolithic, Neolithic and ancient periods. The second period comprises the Roman and Byzantine eras, and the final period is the Turkish era. The Cappadocia region is a place where nature and history converge. Whilst geological processes formed the fairy chimneys, throughout history, people have carved homes, churches and monasteries into these formations, decorating them with frescoes and thus bringing the traces of millennia-old civilisations into the present day. With human settlements dating back to the Palaeolithic era, Cappadocia’s written history begins with the Hittites. Throughout history, Cappadocia has hosted trading colonies and served as a commercial and social bridge between nations; it is also one of the key junctions of the Silk Road. After checking in at our hotel in the afternoon, we will meet our guide in the lobby and head to the horse farm for a 2-hour horse ride in the Göreme region. This area also serves as our spot for taking photographs of the beautiful sunset. The horses accompanying you during the 2-hour Cappadocia horse ride are accustomed to these tours and have been trained accordingly; they will not make any sudden movements that might unsettle you, will not cause you any difficulty, and will ensure you feel safe. Our expert guides will also lead you along the route, taking you on horseback to paths inaccessible to vehicles, the foothills of the fairy chimneys, and villages with lush vineyards, ensuring you can enjoy these unique beauties whatever the season. It is one of the most popular activities in Cappadocia. Our tours take place within the valleys. Sunset tours, in particular, offer both excellent photo opportunities and breathtaking views. For this reason, our sunset tours can provide you with some beautiful shots. Our team members will assist you with this during the tour. After our horseback ride, we complete our photo session and return to the hotel. Dinner is at the hotel. Accommodation: Göreme Holiday Cave Hotel

After breakfast, we set off on our tour of Northern Cappadocia accompanied by our guide. Our first stop is Uçhisar Castle, one of the highest points in the region. This impressive structure, which has been used for defence and surveillance throughout history, offers some of the most beautiful views in Cappadocia. We then visit the Göreme Open-Air Museum. Famous for its rock-cut churches and monasteries, this area is listed on the UNESCO World Heritage List. Next, we head to Çavuşin Village, an old Greek village. We take a short tour of the village, which is notable for its rock-cut dwellings and historic churches. Our tour continues to Paşabağ Valley. Famous for its ‘hat-shaped’ fairy chimneys, this valley is one of Cappadocia’s most striking spots. We enjoy our lunch with a view of the Red Valley. After lunch, we visit Devrent Valley. Day 4

4.DAY

After breakfast at the hotel, we check out and set off on our return journey. On the way back, we visit the Avanos Pottery Factory to get a glimpse of pottery-making, an integral part of the Cappadocia region. It is known that pottery has been made on the potter’s wheel in Avanos since the time of the Hittites. This craft has been passed down from generation to generation, from father to son, right up to the present day. Soft, fatty clay is sifted from the hills of Avanos and the old riverbeds of the Kızılırmak, then thoroughly kneaded into a paste. The desired pottery is crafted by skilfully shaping the clay on a wheel—a foot-powered lathe—known as a ‘çark’. The pottery produced in workshops called ‘işlik’ is first dried in the sun and then in the shade, before being carefully fired in kilns fuelled by straw and sawdust at temperatures ranging from 800 to 1,200 degrees. Turkey’s longest river, the Kızılırmak, used to take on a reddish hue befitting its name in ancient times due to the tuff and clay-rich soils it irrigates near Avanos. This characteristic has largely disappeared following the construction of dams. The region is known for its pottery products, including cooking pots, water jugs, jars and vats for storing winter provisions, and water vats. After visiting the Pottery Factory, we set off for a visit to the local Carpet School. You will have the chance to watch how the local women, who patiently and tirelessly weave their unique Turkish carpets and kilims using magnificent codes and magical letters that tell of their joys and sorrows, line by line, create these pieces. You will also be fully informed by an expert on how silk is obtained and the history of Turkish carpets. Cappadocian carpets are particularly popular among tourists from the Far East. The posts made on social media by tourists wishing to buy carpets and take photographs are of great importance. The power of social media is striking in this regard; as photos are shared, the carpet shops in Cappadocia are inundated with visitors. Hidden within every pattern of the carpets are the weavers’ emotions and stories; the admiration of tourists who learn the meanings of these colours and patterns grows day by day. Following our visit, we depart from the unique region of Cappadocia and head towards the meeting point on the Manavgat-Akseki road. At the meeting point, we board the transfer vehicle waiting for us and set off for Alanya, having boarded our guests from the Antalya region. The end of our tour. We hope you enjoyed our tour. We wish you all the best and look forward to seeing you on another tour.
